When you are next in London , visit the Globe Theatre in Southwark for a flavour of the Shakespeare plays of the early 1600s.

Northern Broadside, based in Halifax in Yorkshire, tour the UK every year. Their special blend of ‘Shakespeare with a Yorkshire accent' is not to be missed. Their 9 hour ,3 plays of ‘War of the Roses' in one day was a Tour de Force.

The Lord Chamberlain Men is another great Shakespearean Touring Company who recently gave a magnificent outdoor performance of Twelfth Night. They are named after the Chamberlain's Men, the premier company of players in Elizabethan England. They were originally known as Hunsdon's Men, after their patron the first Lord Hunsdon. When he took office as Lord Chamberlain in 1585 they were called the Lord Chamberlain's Men then later ‘The King's Men' after patronage from James I.
