Olympics Rhythmic Gymnastics Venue
At London 2012, Wembley Arena will host the Olympic Rhythmic Gymnastics competition. Wembley Arena is in north-west London, around six miles from the city centre. It is next to Wembley Stadium. Rhythmic Gymnastics first appeared during the 19th century, and slowly grew in popularity until the first experimental competitions were staged during the 1930s. Having evolved to incorporate elements from classical ballet, German muscle-building techniques and Swedish exercise systems, it’s one of the most beautiful spectacles on the Olympic programme.
During the Games
Around 6,000 spectators will be able to enjoy the action during the Olympic Rhythmic Gymnastics competitions.
Dates: 28 July – 12 August
Wembley Arena is served by three stations and five rail lines. It is easy to reach from central London by London Underground and from the north and north-west by National Rail and London Overground. Do not travel to Wembley by car as no official London 2012 public parking will be available during the Games.
As you approach the venue, please follow any signs showing the way or directions given to you by transport staff and volunteers
Wembley Park London Underground and Wembley Stadium National Rail stations are step-free with staff assistance available. The venue is served by local bus services. London's buses have low floors and provide audio and visual information. There is one wheelchair space per bus.
