Opening Ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics

The opening ceremonies of the recent Olympics Games have become increasingly spectacular events:

Barcelona 1992
Atlanta 1996
Sydney 2000
Athens 2004
Beijing 2008

A race developed as each new Olympic City strove to outshine the previous Olympic Host.

The Opening Ceremony for the Beijing Olympics was indeed so spectacular that many felt that the pendulum needed to swing back towards the Original Olympian Spirit.

It is believed that the Opening Ceremony for the 2012 London Olympics & Paralympics will take a new direction. Rather than compete with extravagrances of Beijing Opening Ceremony, the feeling is that London's Opening Ceremony will be startlingly different.

As Napolean said" Choose your Battlefield , then the Battle is half won". So, if the London Opening Ceremony takes a this different tack it will be judged on its own merits & not compared with the unassailable spectacular performance of the Beijing Opening Ceremony.

It will be a welcome swing back of the pendulum to grass roots simplicity of the Original Olympics. We will soon know!
