Houses of Parliament

Houses of Parliament is the seat of the British Government. It is here where new laws are debated & passed into law.

The present Gothic Style building was designed by Sir Charles Barry in 1840 after a fire destroyed the previous building .

The slow evolution of the British Parliament commenced in the 1200s with the Curia Regis King's feudal Council or Great Council.

The Houses of Parliament witnesses great pomp, ceremony and splendour when the Queen opens the new sessions of Parliament after travelling in her State coach to Westminster from Buckingham Palace.
